Masquemare is the name (at least online), though my actual name is James. I formally went by ApexRogue in the livestreaming community, but committed to rebranding for multiple reasons, one being that people kept thinking I was a member of the esport team Rogue, which definitely isn't the case given that I not only am nowhere near skilled enough for that, but don't even watch esports.

 

At the time of this writing I've streamed for six+ years across Twitch, Beam/Mixer, Glimesh, and Trovo with my focus now being on streaming on YouTube (which is where I originally started out making gaming content in 2013).

 

My username is a portmanteau of Masque+nightmare and thus based on my love of masks and horror movies (the latter part of my handle being a more subtle reference to A Nightmare On Elm Street).

Not to say A Nightmare On Elm Street is my fave horror franchise (though its well up there). Puppet Master takes that spot with Friday The 13th being a close second.

My full blooded Boston Terrier Rorschach is my life (I named him after the character from Watchmen).​ 

 

Aside from gaming? I also have a passion for writing, photography, and videography. 

 

​​I'm assertive in the fact that I'll listen to someone's problems even if I have to put a hold on my gameplay during a stream. I stand by this in day to day life in general.

 

However I have my limits on what I stand for and tend to (for better or worse) not bite my tongue.

I've been outspoken on my struggles with mental health. Specifically clinical depression, bipolar disorder, generalized anxiety disorder, ADHD, and PTSD. I also have a Autistic Spectrum Disorder (what would formally of been called Asperger's Syndrome)

​

Fave foods are Italian (pizza especially), Japanese (namely ramen), Mountain Dew Kickstarts, cream soda floats, cheesecake, and anything mango or blue raspberry flavored, though I try to adhere to eating clean most of the time due to being very avid about going to the gym.

I'm writing a book called Nightmare Country, which is a fictional adventure story with horror elements and heavy inspiration from anime and comic books that takes place at a college for monsters, with more traditional means to how I portray vampires, werewolves, so on, though I do modify the mythos of a few creatures somewhat.

​

One of my dreams is that if I ever "made it" as a content creator I would love to not only permanently leave this town I've been stuck in most of my life, but do stuff for my YouTube channel based around visiting toy shops around the country and finding discontinued action figures from when I was a kid and also Funko POP figures as I chronicle new additions to my collection.

 

I've also wanted to do haunted attraction walkthroughs (I've never been to Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Studios but its a bucket list goal of mine).

 

Resident Evil is my favorite game series and I've completed 15 games in the series on stream (numbered entries 0 to 8, all of the remakes so far, Code Veronica, Revelations 1+2).

I used to compete in Marvel Vs Capcom 2 as a teenager, though I never placed. My love of the fighting genre is nested deep due to frequenting arcades in Baltimore Maryland as a kid during the 90's fighting game boom. On the occasions that I do charity streams I usually always include a few fighting games and beat em' ups in my playlist.
